Frequently Asked Questions
When can I apply to Boerne Academy?
Current BISD-enrolled students who have earned at least 13 credits and have passed three EOCs may apply. Students may submit an application as early as May of their sophomore year to be considered for enrollment beginning in August of their junior year.
What happens after I apply?
After an application is submitted, staff will review the student’s academic records, including transcripts, grades, attendance, and behavior. A staff member will then contact the student to communicate the next steps in the application process.
What if I do not meet the requirements to attend Boerne Academy?
Students are encouraged to apply if they meet the minimum credit and EOC requirements. Following a review of academic records, staff will collaborate with the student to identify steps that may strengthen eligibility for future consideration.
Can I participate in CTE or extracurricular activities while attending Boerne Academy?
Yes. Students may continue to participate in CTE courses (welding, automotive, culinary) on their home campus. Students may participate in select before- and after-school clubs with approval from the club sponsor. However, students enrolled at Boerne Academy are not eligible to participate in UIL-sponsored events, including athletics, fine arts, and academic competitions.
How many students attend Boerne Academy?
Boerne Academy has a maximum enrollment of 60 students. Once capacity is reached, additional eligible applicants will be placed on a waitlist. Seats become available as students graduate.
What are the school hours?
The instructional day begins at 8:25 a.m. Due to the small campus size and minimal transition time between classes, dismissal occurs at 3:30 p.m. Students who qualify for senior release are dismissed at 1:20 p.m.
